‘Major’ bags three nominations at Dutch Septimius Awards

Iranian feature film ‘Major’ wins three nominations at the Septimius Awards in Amsterdam.

The Septimius Awards in Amsterdam has announced its 2022 nominees with Iranian feature film ‘Major’ grabbing three nominations.      

Previously known as NVIFF, the Septimius Awards bestowed the Best Asian Actor nom on Hamid Farokhnejad for his staggering role in Mehdi Jafari’s ‘Major’.

The Best Producer nomination was also received by Ehsan Abdipour.

Besides, ‘Major’ succeeded to receive the nomination for Best Screenplay.

Jafari’s award-winning film is captured in Bushehr City in south of Iran.  

‘Major’ is about some illegal activities in a harbor city, which gets disturbed as a police dog comes into the story. The dog knows no negotiation and does not deal with anyone.

Farrokhnejad alongside some local actors, including Arash Maleki, Iraj Saghiri, Asghar Javadi, Hamid Baghaki, and Abbas Kamran form the cast list of the flick.

‘Major’ was previously screened at the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh.

The Septimius Awards focuses “on discovering and encouraging new independent talent, supporting visionary films and bringing together all elements of film-making and storytelling, which includes fiction, non-fiction, animation, television series and scripts,” according to the event’s official website.

The event will hold award ceremony on June 6-7, 2022.
